This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with benefits.
The recruitment range for this position is $36,682 to $42,946.
The Administrative Specialist I will provide fiscal and human resources support to the Judicial District Manager and the employees therein consisting primarily of Probation/Parole Officers.
Position will require interaction with criminal offenders.
The duties involve extensive public and staff contact.
The mission of Community Supervision is to protect the safety of citizens in communities throughout the state by providing viable alternatives and meaningful supervision to offenders on probation, parole, or post-release supervision.
The primary goal of Community Supervision is to reach an equal balance of control and treatment for offenders that will positively affect their behavior and lifestyle patterns.
Probation /parole officers protect the public safety by helping offenders learn to live within the law.
They supervise offenders' activities in the community and ensure their compliance with court orders and sanctions.
The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction (NC DAC) is responsible for safeguarding and preserving the lives and property of its residents through prevention, protection, and preparation.

Position will be responsible for:
Time administration, Various types of leave to include but not limited to FMLA and Workers' Compensation, Employment packages, Preparing packets for new hire orientation, Separations.
Position will provide fiscal support services in the key areas of:
Inventory control management, Office operations, Public and staff relations.
Position uses the NC Accounting System and E-procurement system.
Incumbent will:
Enter requisition and usage orders, Verify state contract items, vendor information, mileage reports, shipments and purchase orders receipts, Order supplies, Assist with fiscal inventory, Process travel authorizations and reimbursements, Prepare annual lease and non-lease packets.
Incumbent must be able to effectively and accurately operate various office machines to include computer, calculator, fax and copy machine.
Must have the ability to effectively communicate with Community Supervision's staff, offenders, applicants, outside agencies and the general public in both oral and written form.
Position will:
Compose memoranda, letters, official court documents and reports electronically with limited instruction from supervisor, Proofread documents for spelling, grammar, and punctuation, Effectively maintain and organize files and records both hard copy and electronically, Track large amounts of data, Review complicated tasks to ensure accuracy and integrity of information.
Position works under pressure to meet deadlines for reports, inventory and purchasing, tracking data reports, suspense files and other requirements.
Position will receive and process mail, make arrangements for meetings, screen calls and visitors.
Incumbent must be able to maintain confidentiality and work well independently, comprehend and abide by policy and procedures, interpret instructions given orally or in written form.
Position will provide guidance and support to subordinate clerical staff.
