Assistant Controller

The Assistant Controller will provide critical support to the controller, the CFO, owners, and the management team of our client. Primary responsibilities will include handling the month and year-end close; publishing internal monthly financial statements; recommending improvements to, and maintaining, internal accounting controls; coordinating and managing the annual external audit; overseeing tax payments and tax reporting compliance; preparing quarterly bank covenant compliance work papers; and handling multiple projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
-- Oversight of the company general ledger, including account assignments, accounts payable and accounts receivable
-- Develop and maintaining accurate financial reports
-- Ensuring an accurate monthly and yearly financial close, with any necessary review, accruals, and analysis.
-- Review the account reconciliations of junior staff for quality control and completion
-- Oversee the maintenance of the company's fixed asset schedule and software including annual roll forwards
-- Sales, use, franchise and personal property tax filings
-- Assist CPA firm in providing information required to prepare the federal and state income tax returns, and quarterly estimated tax payments.
-- Supervise/direct company payroll functions.
-- Support the implementation of a rolling forecast and the annual budget process
-- Assist the Corporate Controller in updating / preparing accounting policy SOP's to be compiled as part of the Corporate Controller's Manual
-- Other ad-hoc projects as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
-- Bachelors in Accounting or Business. CPA or Masters is a plus. And a minimum of 7years of accounting experience.
-- Prior experience would ideally be 3-5 years in public accounting for a national or regional CPA firm, plus manufacturing industry experience and family-owned business as well as multi-company environment.
-- To perform this job successfully candidates must have excellent computer and data analysis skills.
-- Team player, excellent people and communication skills, must be extremely organized with a high degree of integrity and able to adapt to change. Good data management and presentation skills.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
